Introduction and Overview

The University of Tirana is a public university in Tirana, the capital of Albania. It is the largest and most powerful university in Albania and one of the most important higher education institutions in the country.

History and Establishment

The university was established in 1957 by the decision of the Albanian government. It was then called the National University of Tirana. It was formed by the merger of five higher education institutions, the most important of which was the Institute of Science established in 1947. After Enver Hoxha's death in 1985, the school was renamed Enver Hoxha Tirana University until it was restored to its original name in 1992.

School Strength

Faculty: It has 791 full-time academic staff and 903 part-time academic staff, as well as 286 academic support staff.

Student size: There are a large number of students. In the 2022-2023 academic year, there are 22,296 students, including undergraduates, masters, doctoral students, etc., including 101 foreign students.
