Introduction
The University of Mons is a French-speaking university located in Mons, the capital of Hainaut Province, Belgium. It was formed in 2009 by the merger of Mons Polytechnic Institute and Mons-Hainaut University. It is the fourth university in the French-speaking community of Belgium and a member of the European Top Engineering University Alliance (T.I.M.E. Alliance) and one of the founding members of the Pôle Hainuyer Alliance.

History and establishment time
The Mons Polytechnic Institute was founded in 1837 as the "Douainaut Mining School". It is the first engineering school in Belgium and one of the oldest universities in Belgium.
The University of Mons-Hainaut was founded in 1965 on the basis of the Hainaut Industrial and Commercial School founded by Raoul Warocque in 1899.
July 6, 2007 On 2009, the Boards of Directors of the University of Mons-Hainaut and the Polytechnic Institute of Mons decided to establish a joint entity, and the University of Mons began to operate from the academic year 2009-2012.
