History and Founding
In 1970, the school was founded by Samuel R. Külling as the Free Evangelical Theological School (Freie Evangelisch-Theologische Akademie, FETA) and opened in the Okrampard Church building in Basel. In 1973, the school moved to Mühlestiegrain 50 in Riehen. In 1994, FETA was renamed the Basel Independent Theological School. In 2022, the college was re-accredited as a university institution by the Swiss University Conference.
