Chizhou University is an applied undergraduate university with engineering and management as its main disciplines, and coordinated development of disciplines such as literature, science, economics, art, education, law, and history. The school is located in Chizhou City, Anhui Province, an excellent tourist city in China known as the "Land of Thousands of Poets". It is a provincial comprehensive general undergraduate college. Founded in 1977, it was originally the Chizhou Regional College of Anhui Labor University. In 1980, it was named Chizhou Normal College. In 1999, the former Chizhou Industrial School was merged into it. In 2002, the former Anhui Economics and Trade School was merged into it. In 2007, it was upgraded to Chizhou University. In 2014, it passed the undergraduate teaching work qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2019, it passed the undergraduate teaching work review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education and became a new master's degree awarding unit in Anhui Province. The project construction unit, in 2024, became a key project construction unit for the new master's degree awarding unit. The school aims to build a distinctive local applied high-level university, adhering to the school motto of "taking Confucius as a teacher and taking knowledge as a friend", adhering to the "local, open, and applied" school-running positioning, adhering to the talent training concept of "student-oriented, use-first", and adhering to the talent training model of "ability-oriented, quality-based, expertise-divided, and cooperative training", and taking the road of transformation development, connotation development, and characteristic development. The school covers an area of nearly 2,000 acres and the school building area is more than 400,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 220 million yuan, with more than 1.41 million paper books, more than 950,000 electronic books, 319 paper journals, and 32 databases. The school currently has 11 secondary colleges (teaching units) and 54 registered undergraduate majors, which have basically formed a professional cluster that meets the requirements of local economic and social development, and has established a number of characteristic majors with a certain influence in and outside the province. Among them, there are 2 national first-class professional construction sites, 3 national characteristic majors (comprehensive reform pilot majors), 11 provincial first-class professional construction sites, and 14 provincial characteristic majors (comprehensive reform pilot majors). There are 773 full-time teachers, including 266 professors and associate professors, 742 doctoral and master's degrees; there are more than 50 provincial academic and technical leaders (reserve candidates), provincial teaching masters, and provincial teaching newcomers. There are about 18,000 full-time students. The school insists on taking moral education as its fundamental task, strives to build a talent training mechanism for the comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor, and vigorously promotes the integration of practical education, innovation and entrepreneurship education, and social responsibility education into the talent training process. There are 25 national off-campus practical education bases for college students, provincial demonstration experimental training centers, provincial school-enterprise cooperation practical education bases, provincial talent training model innovation experimental zones, provincial excellent talent education and training programs, and provincial applied teacher teaching ability development centers. Since the opening of the Chizhou University College Student Entrepreneurship Incubation Base in 2013, more than 70 entrepreneurial projects have been successfully incubated, of which 6 have annual sales of over 10 million yuan. In the past three years, more than 800 national and provincial college student innovation and entrepreneurship training program projects have been approved, including more than 200 national college student innovation and entrepreneurship training program projects. The school attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' practical ability. In recent years, students have won excellent results in national and provincial subject competitions such as the National "Challenge Cup" College Student Extracurricular Academic Works Competition, the China International "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the China College Student Computer Design Competition, and the National College Student Advertising Design Competition. There are 2 Anhui Provincial Social Science Popularization Bases, 7 provincial scientific research platforms, 1 postdoctoral research workstation, and 14 municipal engineering technology research centers. In recent years, more than 120 national fund projects and provincial (ministerial) scientific research projects have been approved, and more than 500 industry-university-research cooperation projects. Won 1 first prize and 2 third prizes in Anhui Province Social Science Achievements (Book Category). In 2022, both family style education and labor education won the special prize of Anhui Province Teaching Achievement. The school adheres to the principle of "seeking support through service and development through contribution". It has established a joint meeting system with the Chizhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, and pioneered the joint deliberation mechanism between provincial universities and local governments. As the only undergraduate university in Chizhou City, the school plays the role of a "local think tank" and has become a "co-builder of Chizhou, planner of ecological Chizhou, designer of tourism Chizhou, discoverer of cultural Chizhou, helper of economic Chizhou, and actor serving Chizhou". Established industrial colleges such as the Rural Revitalization College, Chizhou College-Shuguang Big Data College, Semiconductor Modern Industry College, New Materials and Green Chemical Modern Industry College, Digital Business Modern Industry College, and Tourism Modern Industry College. The school insists on educating people with culture and educating people with culture. Relying on local family culture resources, the Chizhou College Family Culture Museum was built, and the Family Culture Research Center was established to promote the integration, personalization, and localization of excellent traditional culture, so that excellent traditional culture can take root on campus. The Family Culture Museum has become a key base for ideological and political education for college students in our school. It has established exchange and cooperation relations with more than 10 universities in Canada, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Taiwan, coordinated "bringing in" and "going out", promoted international exchanges of teachers and students, and improved the internationalization of talent training, academic and scientific research. It actively carries out education for international students in China, attaches importance to exchanges and cooperation with universities in "Belt and Road" countries, and applies for "Belt and Road" and "Double Hundred" plan projects. In 2023, it will recruit 4 foreign students for the first time.
