Fujian Normal University is located in Fuzhou, a historical and cultural city known as the "Zou Lu by the Sea". It is a provincial higher education institution with a long history and a great reputation. The school originated from the "Fujian Superior Normal School" founded by Mr. Chen Baochen, the imperial tutor of the Qing Dynasty in 1907. Later, the South China Women's College of Arts and Sciences, Fujian Union University, Fujian Provincial Normal College and other units were adjusted and merged several times. Fujian Normal College was established in 1953. In 1972, it was renamed Fujian Normal University and has been used ever since. In 2012, the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education jointly established Fujian Normal University. In 2014, it was identified as a high-level university for key construction in Fujian Province. In 2018, it was identified as a first-class university construction university in Fujian Province. In 2022, it was identified as a Class A university in the second round of "Double First-Class" construction in Fujian Province. A hundred years of spring and autumn, the torch is passed on. It has been selected as a national key Marxist college, with 4 national talent training bases and the Ministry of Education's college counselor training and research base, the Ministry of Education's ideological and political course teacher teaching and research base, and the Ministry of Education's national key construction vocational teacher training base. The school gives full play to the leading role of disciplines, and strives to build a discipline system of first-class liberal arts, high-level science, and distinctive engineering, and has basically formed the discipline layout of a comprehensive university. It has 1 national key discipline, 3 main disciplines for the second round of "Double First-Class" construction in Fujian Province, 9 provincial peak disciplines and 13 plateau disciplines, 20 postdoctoral research mobile stations, 19 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 3 doctoral professional degree authorization points, 32 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, and 26 master's professional degree categories. Eight disciplines, including chemistry, engineering, materials science, computer science, environmental science and ecology, agronomy, general social sciences, and botany and zoology, have entered the top 1% of the ESI global ranking, and five of them have entered the top 5‰ of the ESI. The school has always adhered to the "four orientations", served the "major issues of the country", actively integrated into the national strategy and local economic and social development, and strengthened organized scientific research. It has been approved to build a national research center for political economy with Chinese characteristics (only 7 in the country), with 1 national field scientific observation and research station, 1 national key laboratory cultivation base, 1 national and local joint engineering research center, 1 national "2011" collaborative innovation center (one of the core collaborative units), 1 base for discipline innovation and intelligence introduction in higher education institutions, 123 research platforms at the ministerial and provincial levels, including key laboratories, engineering research centers, and key research bases for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education. It has won more than 1,000 scientific research achievement awards at the ministerial and provincial levels, including 18 independent or cooperative national awards (National Natural Science Award, National Technological Invention Award, and National Science and Technology Progress Award), 4 first prizes in humanities and social sciences, and 1 first prize in natural sciences in the Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Award for Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education. In the past five years, the university has undertaken more than 630 national-level projects and more than 3,800 other projects, including 47 major key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation and key research and development projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and 19 major projects of the National Social Science Foundation and major research projects of the Ministry of Education on philosophy and social sciences. Focusing on the vivid practice of Fujian's construction of a demonstration zone for cross-strait integration and development, the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, a free trade pilot zone, and a national ecological civilization pilot zone, the university has carried out in-depth cooperation in production, learning, research and application, and taken multiple measures to promote the transformation and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements; focusing on major practical issues, creating a number of new think tanks with regional and school characteristics, and striving to play the role of "think tank" and "think tank". The Fujian-Taiwan Regional Research Center was selected as the National Ethnic Affairs Commission's Chinese National Community Research Base, the Indonesian Research Center was selected as the Ministry of Education's Country and Regional Research Filing Center, and the Philippine Research Center was selected as the National Ethnic Affairs Commission's "Belt and Road" Country and Regional Research Center. Overseas Chinese language education has begun to take shape and its characteristics are prominent. So far, 22 batches of 1,025 volunteers have been sent to 29 countries including the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and the United States. Two Confucius Institutes have been established in cooperation with the University of Angus Ridge in the Philippines and the University of Al-Azhar in Indonesia, which have had a good impact at home and abroad. The school hosts a variety of academic journals. The Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition and the Natural Science Edition of the Journal of Fujian Normal University are both national Chinese core journals and RCCSE Chinese core academic journals (A). The Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition has been rated as a famous column construction journal of the Ministry of Education and a source journal of the Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI), and the Natural Science Edition has been listed as a Chinese science and technology core journal. The school currently has nearly 5 million paper books and more than 5.6 million electronic books. The library is a national key ancient book protection unit, especially for its rich collection of ancient books, rare books, inscriptions, calligraphy and paintings, local documents, early foreign original books and representative newspapers and periodicals before and after the "May Fourth Movement". The campus network equipment is complete and widely used, and wireless network coverage is achieved throughout the campus. It has a number of high-level sports venues and complete sports facilities to better meet the needs of various events, training, and fitness. There are affiliated schools such as the attached middle school, attached primary school, and experimental kindergarten. The attached middle school is the school with the most awards in the International Olympic Subject Competition in Fujian Province. Fujian Normal University, which has gone through a glorious journey of 117 years, has not forgotten its original intention of cultivating morality and educating people, and has kept in mind its mission of educating people for the Party and the country.
