Guangdong Food and Drug Vocational College is a public full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and filed with the Ministry of Education. It has three directly affiliated units: Guangdong Food and Drug Vocational Technical School, Guangdong Food and Drug Vocational College Affiliated Kindergarten, and Guangdong Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In March 1974, it moved to Jianglan Road and was renamed the First Branch of Guangdong Commercial Technical School. In September 1979, it was changed to Guangdong Medical Technical School. In 1983, Guangdong Medical Workers Technical School was established, and it was run together with Guangdong Medical Technical School. In 1984, it moved to Longdong, Tianhe District, Guangzhou, and Guangdong Medical School was established in March 1986. In 1999, the school began to undertake higher education. In 2002, it was approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and upgraded to a higher vocational college. In May 2003, it was officially upgraded to Guangdong Chemical and Pharmaceutical Vocational and Technical College after being registered with the Ministry of Education. In May 2007, it was renamed Guangdong Food and Drug Vocational College after being registered with the Ministry of Education.
