Guangdong Light Industry Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1933. It is the only national demonstrative higher vocational college in the province, a construction unit of high-level vocational schools and high-level professional groups ("double high plan") with Chinese characteristics, and currently has 18,326 full-time higher vocational students. The school was formerly the "Guangdong Provincial No. 1 Vocational School", and has a 90-year history of vocational education. It has offered undergraduate vocational education in two periods from 1959 to 1963 and from 1978 to 1983. It has won the national first prize in the teaching ability competition of the vocational college skills competition for four consecutive years.
