Heilongjiang Bayi Agricultural University is a full-time general college in Heilongjiang Province. It was founded in July 1958. The first president was General Wang Zhen, the former Vice President of the State and the then Minister of the Ministry of Agricultural Reclamation. The school was originally under the Ministry of Agricultural Reclamation, and was transferred to the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province in 1973. After 65 years of development and construction, it has become an agricultural university with distinctive modern agricultural characteristics, agriculture-oriented, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. The school was born in the historical tide of 100,000 demobilized officers and soldiers developing and building the Great Northern Wilderness. The original site of the school was located in the mountainous countryside north of Peide Town, Mishan City. In the 45 years of running schools in frontier rural areas, the teachers and students of the school carried forward the fine traditions of the People's Liberation Army and the "anti-college school spirit", inherited the spirit of the Great Northern Wilderness, and embarked on a path of self-improvement and hard work. In 2003, the school moved to Daqing City as a whole, entering a new period of accelerated upgrading and leapfrog development. In the long-term practice of running schools, the school has condensed and formed the spirit of "hard work, selfless dedication, pragmatic truth-seeking, and bearing heavy burdens", and has won wide acclaim from the society for its excellent school spirit and school performance. The school is currently located in the Daqing High-tech Industrial Development Zone, with a total area of 1.3252 million square meters, a building area of 418,900 square meters, a total fixed asset value of 1.49 billion yuan, teaching and scientific research equipment of 364 million yuan, and 2.2363 million books. The school currently has 1,463 faculty members, including 983 full-time teachers, 185 professors, 298 associate professors, 419 teachers with doctoral degrees, accounting for 42.6%; 134 teachers have accumulated more than one year of overseas experience, accounting for 13.6%. The school has 6 national talent project candidates, 1 "Longjiang Scholar" distinguished professor, 4 "Longjiang Scholar" young scholars, 2 provincial outstanding young scholars, 3 national outstanding teachers, 1 national model teacher, 7 provincial teaching masters, 2 post scientists of the industrial technology system of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; currently there are 76 provincial high-level talents. There is 1 innovation team in key areas of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 1 "leading goose" team for the research and development of green production of grains and deep processing technology of food in Heilongjiang Province, and 6 provincial leading talent echelons; 2 "double-appointed academicians", 22 "Wang Zhen Chair Professors" and 39 people enjoying special allowances from the State Council and the provincial government. The university has 12 undergraduate colleges and teaching institutions such as the School of Marxism, the Department of Physical Education, and the School of Continuing Education. The disciplines and majors involve 7 disciplines, including agronomy, engineering, management, science, law, literature, and economics. The university has 3 postdoctoral research mobile stations and 1 postdoctoral research workstation. It has 4 first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 11 first-level master's degree authorization points, and 7 master's professional degree authorization categories. "Grain Production and Processing" and "Yu'e Breeding Ecological Agriculture" have been selected as the new round of provincial "Double First-Class" characteristic disciplines. Plant and Animal Science and Agricultural Science disciplines will enter the top 1% of the ESI global ranking in 2023; there are 50 undergraduate majors, including 3 national characteristic majors, 9 provincial key majors, 8 national first-class majors, and 17 provincial first-class majors. The school recruits students from 24 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions), with more than 17,800 full-time undergraduates and nearly 2,700 graduate students of various types. Since its establishment, the school has trained and delivered more than 130,000 graduates and trained more than 500,000 personnel of various types. The school has focused on promoting teaching reforms, and the quality of talent training has been continuously improved. There are 1 national off-campus practice education base, 1 national agricultural professional degree graduate practice education cultivation base, 13 national science and technology courtyards, 5 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching demonstration center, 3 provincial off-campus practice education bases, 2 provincial graduate training innovation practice demonstration bases, 2 provincial graduate training innovation bases, and 8 provincial science and technology courtyards; there are 5 national first-class courses, 40 provincial first-class courses, 9 provincial course ideological and political demonstration courses, 2 provincial graduate guidance ideological and political teams, 3 provincial graduate course ideological and political courses, 4 provincial graduate course ideological and political cases, and 2 provincial graduate quality courses. 326 national-level college student innovation and entrepreneurship training projects and 804 provincial-level projects have been approved. The quality of undergraduate graduates remains at the forefront of provincial universities, and the school was once rated as the annual "Top 50 National University Graduate Employment". The school's scientific research work focuses on applied research and technological development. It has established 28 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, including the National Cereals Engineering Technology Research Center, the New Rural Development Research Institute, the Ministry of Education's Grain By-product Processing and Utilization Engineering Technology Research Center, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Agricultural Products and Processed Products Quality Supervision and Inspection Testing Center (Daqing), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Northeast Plain Agriculture Green Low-Carbon Key Laboratory, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Soybean Mechanized Production Key Laboratory, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Northeast Cold Region Cattle Disease Prevention and Control Key Laboratory (co-built by the Ministry and the Province), as well as 7 provincial university key laboratories and engineering technology research and development centers. The school pays attention to the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements, deepens cooperation with enterprises such as Beidahuang Agricultural Reclamation Group and local governments such as Daqing City, and jointly builds ten school-reclamation and school-local integration development science and technology innovation bases and 10 provincial industrial technology research institutes to help Longjiang's comprehensive and all-round revitalization and serve local social and economic development. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the school has undertaken a total of 438 national, provincial and ministerial projects, and the scientific research funds of departments at all levels have totaled 412 million yuan. Since its establishment, the school has achieved more than 1,800 scientific research results, won 7 national science and technology progress awards, and 180 provincial and ministerial awards. A number of major scientific research results represented by "three-ridge cultivation technology of soybeans", "crop seed coating agent", "key technology for safety control of soybean and rice production and processing", "research and application of key technologies for prevention and control of important cattle diseases", "'Lion White Goose' breeding and 'Jade Goose' ecological breeding model", "Heilongjiang rice large-scale balanced high-yield and high-quality cultivation comprehensive supporting technology", "modern agricultural machinery key technology and equipment" have been effectively transformed in production practice, creating huge economic and social benefits. It has won the "Heilongjiang Provincial Governor's Special Award" three times, the "Heilongjiang Provincial Colleges and Scientific Research Institutions Economic Revitalization Award" twice, and the first prize of Heilongjiang Provincial Science and Technology Award 10 times. The school adheres to open education and conducts exchanges and cooperation with nearly 30 universities and research institutes in countries and regions such as the United States, Britain, Canada, Russia, France, South Korea, Japan, India, Ukraine, Poland, and Malaysia. At present, the school implements the Sino-foreign cooperative education program for undergraduates with Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service in Russia, and the exchange student program with Gangneung Wonju National University in South Korea, Jeju University, Yamagata University in Japan, Poznan University of Life Sciences in Poland, Kharkiv National University of Radio and Electronics in Ukraine, Kharkiv National University of Urban Planning, and Universiti Putra Malaysia. It implements the "China-Canada Cooperation Food Research and Development Center" project with the University of Alberta in Canada, and the Sino-Indian Cereal Engineering Technology Research Center project with UAS University in India. It has carried out joint postgraduate training programs with Chinese and foreign tutors with nearly 30 universities and research institutes in 12 countries, and has trained 36 doctoral and master's students.
