Ili Normal University is located in Ili, the "South of the Yangtze River outside the Great Wall". It is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Province and the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. For a long time, the school has fully implemented the party's education policy, adhered to the principle of "educating people with the spirit of poplars and serving the development of Xinjiang and the consolidation of borders", and has been rooted in the border for 75 years. It has trained and sent nearly 70,000 talents of various types to the society. According to statistics, 60% of primary and secondary school teachers in Ili, Tacheng and Altay regions graduated from our school. It has provided intellectual support and talent guarantee for regional economic development, social stability, national unity, and border consolidation, especially for the basic education cause in the border areas. It has made positive contributions and is known as "the cradle of talents at the foot of Tianshan Mountain and the famous education school on the banks of the Ili River". Historical evolution: The predecessor of the school was the Xinjiang Provincial Ili College established in 1948. In 1950, except for the teacher training major, all other majors of the school were incorporated into Xinjiang College (the predecessor of Xinjiang University). In 1953, it was renamed Ili Normal School. In 1980, it was approved by the State Council to be upgraded to a general undergraduate college and named Ili Normal College. It was approved as a master's degree-granting institution in 2006. In December 2018, it was renamed Ili Normal University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. School Positioning: In accordance with the development requirements of the Ministry of Education for our school, the school has established the overall school-running positioning of "focusing on teacher education and cultivating application-oriented, technical and skilled compound talents", and has clarified the development goal of building a "new era high-level normal university rooted in the frontier and serving the frontier". Discipline and professional settings: There are 18 teaching units, 57 undergraduate majors, involving 10 disciplines. There are 8 first-level master's degree authorization points in Chinese language and literature, mathematics, physics, law, education, chemistry, biology, and Marxist theory; 6 master's degree authorization points in resources and environment, journalism and communication, law, tourism management, master of education and master of sports; covering 49 second-level disciplines (professional fields). It has three autonomous region-level key disciplines: Chinese language and literature, physics, and mathematics; one national higher education specialty construction site: Chinese minority languages and literature (Kazakh language); two autonomous region-level key majors: electrical engineering and automation, and applied physics; three autonomous region-level key majors: biological sciences, applied chemistry, and applied physics; four national first-class undergraduate major construction sites: law, Chinese language and literature, mathematics and applied mathematics, and primary education; 10 autonomous region-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites: chemistry, applied physics, preschool education, Chinese minority languages and literature (Kazakh language), ideological and political education, biological sciences, musicology, radio and television, environmental science, and tourism management; one national first-class undergraduate course: kindergarten course; and 10 autonomous region-level first-class undergraduate courses: economic law, kindergarten course, complex variable function, modern algebra, psychology, Chinese painting techniques, physical chemistry, economic law, vocal music, and outline of modern Chinese history. Faculty: There are 1,378 faculty members, including 1,050 full-time teachers. There are 183 faculty members with doctoral degrees, 800 with master's degrees, and 115 doctoral students; 311 with senior professional titles and 415 with intermediate professional titles. There are also 290 part-time teachers and 33 "Silver Age Plan teachers". There are 3 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, 1 strategic scientist of the Autonomous Region's "Tianshan Talent", 1 famous teacher of education and teaching of the "Tianshan Talent" plan, 2 Xinjiang cultural masters and "four batches" of talents of the "Tianshan Talent" plan, 1 young talent of propaganda, ideology and culture of the Autonomous Region of the "Tianshan Talent" plan, 8 specially appointed professors of the Autonomous Region's "Tianchi Talent", 2 famous teachers of the Autonomous Region, and 9 teaching experts of the Autonomous Region; 6 candidates for the training of the Autonomous Region's "Tianshan Talent" plan, 1 person in the Tianshan Cedar Plan, and 10 people selected for the Tianchi Doctoral Plan. Since 2018, a total of 28 high-level talents of "Tianshan Scholars" have been introduced, 9 honorary professors, 32 specially appointed professors, 52 visiting professors, and more than 200 external teachers have been appointed. The teachers of the school have achieved excellent results in various teaching competitions and won many national and autonomous region-level teaching competition awards. Scientific research: Since 2018, 1,909 scientific research projects of various levels and types have been obtained, with a funding of 106.8177 million yuan, including 1,814 vertical projects with a funding of 91.7954 million yuan and 95 horizontal projects with a funding of 15.0223 million yuan. A total of 27 scientific research achievement awards at the provincial (ministerial) level and above have been won; more than 20 books have been published; 216 patents have been applied for; 4,490 papers have been published, including 691 high-level academic papers; 13 consulting reports adopted by governments at all levels. In 2023, the school was approved for 7 National Natural Science Foundations, 5 National Social Science Foundations, and 1 National Art Fund. Teaching and research platform: In 2023, two new autonomous region-level key laboratories will be added. Now there are 37 scientific research platforms of various levels and types, including 9 scientific research platforms at the provincial and ministerial level or above (including cultivation), namely 3 autonomous region key laboratories, 1 autonomous region engineering center, 1 autonomous region general college humanities and social sciences research key base, 1 Ministry of Education country and regional research center (recorded), 1 National Ethnic Affairs Commission Belt and Road country and regional research center (cultivation), 1 autonomous region education system "casting the consciousness of the Chinese nation community research and practice base", 1 platform co-built with Ili Prefecture; 1 department-level scientific research platform, namely 1 key laboratory of the Autonomous Region Education Department; 3 Ili Prefecture scientific research platforms; 24 school-level scientific research platforms. There is 1 autonomous region-level modern industry college. Number of students: The school recruits students from 26 provinces, cities and districts across the country, and currently has 25,491 students, including 23,817 undergraduates and 1,674 master's students. There are 5,079 students in adult academic education and 3,667 students in adult non-academic education. School conditions: The school covers a total area of 85.2 hectares (1,278 acres), with 181,200 square meters of teaching and auxiliary rooms, 194,200 square meters of dormitories, and 21 experimental centers directly managed by units, with a usable area of 35,521 square meters. The total value of the existing teaching and scientific research equipment assets is 185 million yuan, there are 15,712 sets of teaching and experimental equipment, 1.2223 million paper books in the library, and 442,600 electronic books. There are 28 electronic databases.
