Jiangxi Biotechnology Vocational College (hereinafter referred to as the college) is an agricultural vocational college affiliated to the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, with the characteristics of cultivating talents needed for modern agricultural technology and rural revitalization. The evolution of the school Jiangxi Biotechnology Vocational College can be traced back to the Secondary Technical Department of Jiangxi Agricultural College in 1952. In 1956, Nanchang Animal Husbandry and Veterinary School was established based on the Secondary Technical Department. In 1958, Nanchang Animal Husbandry and Veterinary School merged with Jiangxi Agricultural Cadre School, Jiangxi Agricultural Economics School and Jiangxi Agricultural Machinery School to form Jiangxi Agricultural School. Jiangxi Agricultural School was closed in 1968 and Jiangxi Animal Husbandry and Fisheries School was established in 1980. In April 2000, the school was established as a "provincial and ministerial key technical secondary school". In June 2003, with the approval of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college and renamed Jiangxi Biotechnology Vocational College. The college was recognized as a modern agricultural technology training base by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2010, with a national unique occupational skill appraisal station. In April 2014, it became a model higher vocational college in Jiangxi Province. In 2018, it was rated as a national excellent adult continuing education and training institution. In April 2020, it was recognized as a high-quality junior college in Jiangxi Province. In May 2021, it was rated as a "national rural revitalization talent training school" by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Education. The college is a project unit for the construction of "double high" higher vocational education in Jiangxi Province, a national modern apprenticeship pilot unit, an advanced unit for higher teacher training in Jiangxi Province, a "national new professional farmer training demonstration base" of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and a targeted training college for grassroots agricultural technicians in Jiangxi Province. 2. Current status of school development (I) Scale and structure of students Currently, the college has a total of 14,265 students, including: 11,263 full-time college students (excluding expansion), 1,168 higher vocational expansion students (social personnel), 1,617 higher vocational expansion students (high-quality farmers), and 217 five-year continuous education students (secondary vocational stage). (II) School Conditions The college covers an area of 790,031.34 square meters (1,185 mu), of which: 607,960 square meters (911 mu) of independent use area without school property rights (including a 388-mu agricultural production comprehensive training base); 185,000 square meters of teaching and administrative buildings, of which: 178,300 square meters of independent use area without school property rights, 16.11 square meters of teaching and administrative buildings per student (excluding expanded enrollment); the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 94.2 million yuan, and the value of teaching instruments and equipment per student is 8,205.57 yuan (excluding expanded enrollment), and the library has a collection of 780,000 books. There are 68 on-campus practice bases and 130 off-campus internship and training bases, including 1 vocational education training base supported by the national finance, 1 professional capacity building training base, and 4 provincial training centers. There are 3 national key majors, 4 national productive training centers, 4 provincial professional teaching resource libraries, and 23 provincial boutique online open courses recognized by the Action Plan for the Innovation and Development of Higher Vocational Education. (III) Faculty As of November 30, 2022, the college has 490 full-time teachers on campus, including 85 with senior professional titles, 273 with graduate degrees, and 185 with "double-teacher" qualities. There are 130 external teachers, including 2 provincial university teaching teams, 1 national model teacher, 1 provincial subject leader, 4 provincial teaching masters, 5 national agricultural vocational education teaching masters, 9 provincial middle-aged and young backbone teachers, and more than 20 teachers serve as vice presidents, chairmen, and executive directors of industry associations. (IV) Discipline and professional settings The school focuses on the rural revitalization strategy and the requirements of serving the construction of the inland open economic experimental zone in Jiangxi Province, and adjusts its professional settings in the direction of cultivating talents in the fields of modern agriculture that are in short supply in society and the fields of electronic information and equipment manufacturing that are key to the development of Jiangxi Province. It has 7 departments, 2 departments, 1 college, and 45 enrollment majors. Among them, there are 14 major majors in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery, which basically cover the traditional pillar industries and emerging industries required for the development and construction of agriculture and rural areas. The college has 3 national key majors, 4 national productive training bases, 2 provincial innovative teaching teams, 2 provincial productive training bases, 4 provincial professional teaching resource libraries, 23 provincial quality online open courses, 2 national modern apprenticeship pilot majors, and 2 provincial high-advantage and characteristic construction majors.
