Kaili College is located in Kaili City, Guizhou Province, the capital of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, which is known as the "Forest State, Song and Dance State, and Magic State". It is a full-time public undergraduate general college approved by the Ministry of Education. In June 2023, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the People's Government of Guizhou Province officially signed an agreement to jointly build Kaili College, and Kaili College became a provincial and ministerial co-construction college. In December 2023, Kaili College became a provincial-level college. The school originated from Qiandongnan University, which was founded in 1958. Together with Yanbian University and Jishou University, it is one of the three national higher education institutions established by the state in ethnic autonomous prefectures. The school name has changed several times. In 2006, the Ministry of Education approved the upgrading of the school to a general undergraduate college, and the Qiandongnan Normal College for Nationalities was rebuilt into Kaili College. In 2008, the school moved to the new campus in Kaili Economic Development Zone. In 2010, it passed the bachelor's degree awarding institution evaluation, and in 2015, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2019, it accepted the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2023, it will accept the undergraduate education and teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education. The school covers an area of 1,676 acres, and the school building area is 342,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 221 million yuan, the library has 1.3 million paper books, more than 1.14 million electronic books, more than 5.53 million master and doctoral theses, and more than 150,000 electronic journals. The school has always adhered to the school-running orientation of "three characteristics and one type" (local, ethnic, normal, and applied). According to the school-running idea of "making normal education refined, ethnic special, and engineering practical", it now has 16 secondary colleges and 11,714 full-time students. There are 55 undergraduate majors, covering 10 disciplines such as education, engineering, science, literature, management, art, and agriculture. Among them, there is 1 national comprehensive reform pilot major, 11 provincial first-class majors, 89 provincial first-class courses, 1 first-class construction discipline in Guizhou Province, and 8 provincial key (special key, key support) disciplines. The school vigorously implements the strategy of "strengthening the school with talents". There are 950 faculty and staff, including 148 senior professional titles, 355 associate senior professional titles, 138 doctors, and 586 masters. There is one national candidate of the Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project, one expert enjoying the special government allowance of the State Council, one young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions at the national level, one New Century Excellent Talent of the Ministry of Education, one National Excellent Science and Technology Worker, one leader of the Huang Danian-style teacher team of national universities, one core expert of Guizhou Province, two provincial experts of Guizhou Province, two outstanding young scientific and technological talents of Guizhou Province, two outstanding scientific and technological workers of Guizhou Province, and two "hundred" level innovative talents of Guizhou Province; a total of five national model teachers and provincial "Golden Teachers" (famous teachers); nearly 30 "Qianling Scholars" of philosophy and social sciences in provincial universities, provincial Jiaxiu cultural talents, provincial hundred-level innovative talents training targets, provincial thousand-level innovative talents training targets, etc.; there are 13 teaching research and scientific and technological innovation teams at all levels and types. The school pays attention to the integration of science and education and innovative development. There are 17 teaching and scientific research platforms of various levels and types, including 3 provincial university experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 provincial ethnic ancient books research base, 1 provincial Chinese-Minority bilingual service base, 4 provincial university industry-university-research bases, 1 Ministry of Education engineering center (cultivation project), 1 provincial academician workstation, 1 provincial university collaborative innovation center, 4 provincial university characteristic key laboratories, 1 provincial university engineering center, 1 provincial innovation team, 7 provincial university innovation teams, and a key research base for Dong studies in Southeast Guizhou and a state-level think tank "Southeast Guizhou Development Research Institute". At the same time, it has the "National Excellent Journal of Local Universities" - "Journal of Kaili College" and the first Peking University Chinese core journal named after "original ecological ethnic culture" in the country, "RCCSE Chinese Core Academic Journal" and "CSSCI Extended Edition Journal" - "Journal of Original Ecological Ethnic Culture". In recent years, the school has won a total of 30 national projects, 101 provincial and ministerial projects, 348 prefecture-level projects, and 74 horizontal projects. Published 294 books, 4,216 academic papers (including 500 Peking University core journals, 106 CSSCI source journals, and 55 SCI papers); 948 patents were authorized. 136 scientific research achievements were awarded (including 21 provincial and ministerial awards and 115 prefectural and departmental awards). The school adheres to open education. Enrolling students from 16 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) across the country, the school has established international student exchange programs and summer camps for college students with more than 10 universities in the United States, Russia and some Southeast Asian countries. Since 1992, it has recruited international students, and has trained more than 300 degree students, language students, exchange students and others from Germany, South Korea, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, Cambodia and other countries. In 2020, it signed a cooperation agreement with Guizhou Zhongke Hantianxia Electronics Co., Ltd. to jointly build the School of Microelectronics and Artificial Intelligence, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Zhongwen Industry Holding Group Co., Ltd. to jointly build the Cambodian branch of Kaili College, and held activities such as the "China-ASEAN University Student Tourism Ambassador Selection Competition" during the China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week. In 2022, the Ministry of Education approved the cooperation with Arden University in the UK to hold an undergraduate education program in computer science and technology, with an annual enrollment of 120 students, which was included in the national general higher education enrollment plan, attracting widespread attention from the society. The school has been selected as the first batch of pilot institutions of the Ministry of Education's "Scientific Work Capacity Improvement Plan (Hundreds of Millions of Projects)"; the first batch of "National Language and Character Standardization Demonstration Schools", "National First Batch of Conservation-oriented Public Institutions Demonstration Units", "National Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Group Training School", "National Demonstration Academician Expert Workstation", "National First Batch of National Defense Education Characteristic Schools", "National Worker Education and Training Demonstration Points", and is the first batch of "Green Universities" in Guizhou Province, the first batch of "Characteristic Cultural Schools" in Guizhou Province, and the first batch of research bases for strengthening the consciousness of the Chinese nation community in Guizhou Province.
