Liuzhou Institute of Technology was founded in 2002. Its predecessor was Lushan College of Guangxi University of Science and Technology. It was jointly organized by Liuzhou Municipal People's Government and Guangxi University of Science and Technology. In April 2020, the school was approved by the Ministry of Education to be converted into a regular full-time undergraduate college under the jurisdiction of the Education Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and was renamed "Liuzhou Institute of Technology". The school is located in Liuzhou, an important industrial town and historical and cultural city in Guangxi. The campus covers an area of 1,283.21 acres, with a total construction area of 425,400 square meters, a total investment of more than 1.7 billion yuan, and a total value of teaching and scientific research equipment of more than 150 million yuan. It has a group of teaching and experimental training buildings with advanced supporting facilities, and has built more than 200 practical teaching platforms such as basic experimental center, metalworking practice center, various professional experimental training rooms, simulation experimental training center, etc. The library has a paper collection of about 1.8521 million books. The school has a faculty team with both moral integrity and talent, excellent quality and reasonable structure. It has a group of outstanding teachers, including experts enjoying State Council subsidies, outstanding experts of the autonomous region, the first batch of high-level talents in Guangxi, scientific and technological personnel with outstanding contributions in the autonomous region, 100 young and middle-aged backbone teachers in Guangxi universities, theoretical experts contracted by Liuzhou Municipal Government, and outstanding young scientific and technological talents in Liuzhou. There are currently 812 full-time teachers, of which 65.64% have doctoral and master's degrees; 42.73% have senior professional titles. Based in Guangxi and facing the whole country, the school closely combines the needs of regional economic and social development, adheres to the path of "differentiation" and "characteristics", and has formed a multi-disciplinary coordinated development pattern. There are currently 10 secondary colleges (School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Automotive Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, School of Information Science and Engineering, School of Economics and Management, School of Design and Art, School of Language, Culture and International Education, School of Food and Chemical Engineering, School of Marxism, School of Continuing Education), 2 industrial colleges (School of Standardization, School of Software), 4 teaching departments (Mathematics and Physics Teaching Department, Physical Education Teaching Department, Foreign Language Teaching Department, Public Art Teaching Department), 45 undergraduate majors, recruiting students from 26 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) across the country, and the number of full-time students has exceeded 16,000. In recent years, the school has continuously deepened the reform of education and teaching, and gradually established a collaborative education system with school-enterprise cooperation and integration of production and education as the core. The secondary colleges of the school have successively established a school-enterprise cooperation council and a school-enterprise cooperation teaching guidance committee, signed school-enterprise cooperation agreements with more than 100 domestic enterprises, and established off-campus internship and training bases. Industry and enterprise experts are deeply involved in all aspects of school teaching. The school attaches great importance to the quality education of college students and focuses on cultivating innovative talents. Students have won more than ten honors such as the first and second prizes in the domestic and foreign college mathematical modeling competitions, the national college student robot competition, and the national college student electronic design competition. The racing cars designed and made by students have represented the Chinese college team many times in the International Formula Student Car Competition and won good results. In various competitions at all levels such as the National Mechanical Design Innovation Competition, the China "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the National College Student Art Exhibition, our students have won more than 400 national awards. Serving local economic construction and social development is the school-running philosophy that Liuzhou Institute of Technology has always adhered to. Our school is one of the first members to join the China Association of Applied Technology Universities and one of the first four newly built undergraduate colleges in Guangxi for overall transformation and development pilot schools. In recent years, our teachers have obtained 520 authorized patents, and the total number of intellectual property rights ranks 10th among the 33 undergraduate colleges in the region and first among similar schools in the region. According to the 2020 Wu Shulian China Independent College Ranking, the school's natural sciences ranked ninth in the country with an A+ grade, and engineering ranked sixth in the country with an A+.
