Nantong Vocational University (Nantong Vocational University) started its operation in 1973. It is located in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, the "first modern city in China" where the river and the sea meet. In 1983, it was approved by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and registered by the Ministry of Education to run a comprehensive full-time general college. It is one of the first public higher vocational colleges in the country. The school fully implements Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, upholds the school motto of "Virtue and Aspiration, Studying Things to Gain Knowledge", promotes the school-running philosophy of Mr. Zhang Jian, a modern industrialist and educator, that "learning must be expected to be used, and use must be suitable for the place", adheres to "rooting in Nantong and serving Nantong", implements the fundamental task of cultivating morality and cultivating people, and strives to move forward. There are more than 50 majors, including 1 national "double high plan" professional group, 5 national backbone majors, 5 national key majors, 1 provincial government project brand major, 4 provincial high-level backbone majors, 4 provincial key professional groups, 9 provincial brand (characteristic) majors, and 4 provincial demonstration construction key majors (groups). It has 1 national vocational education professional teaching resource library, 2 national quality courses, 2 national quality resource sharing courses, 10 provincial online open courses, 11 national planning textbooks, 41 provincial quality (key) textbooks, 3 national training bases, 2 Ministry of Education industry-education integration training bases, 1 provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, 2 provincial skill master studios, and 1 provincial "double teacher" famous teacher studio; 1 national first prize for teaching achievements, 1 provincial special prize for teaching achievements, 3 first prizes, and 6 second prizes. The school actively explores the construction of a modern vocational education system, carries out "4+0" joint training for higher vocational and undergraduate, "3+2" segmented training, and "3+3" segmented training for secondary and higher vocational education, and builds a "bridge" for talent training that interconnects secondary vocational, junior college, and undergraduate, and academic education and technical education, vocational training interact and run in parallel. It won the first prize in the 2021 and 2022 National Vocational College Student Skills Competition, the silver medal in the first World Vocational College Skills Competition in 2022, the international silver medal in the 2022 BRICS Vocational Skills Competition, and the first prize in the country. It has achieved excellent results in various competitions at all levels, such as the Challenge Cup, the Mathematical Modeling Competition, and the Electronic Design Competition. For many years, the employment rate of graduates has remained above 98%, and the satisfaction of employers has reached more than 93%.
