Shandong Union College was founded in 1993. It is a general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education of China. It is a project construction unit of Shandong Province's private undergraduate higher education characteristic famous school, the first batch of applied undergraduate college construction units, the first batch of smart education demonstration school creation units, and the first batch of Shandong Province's green schools and red culture inheritance demonstration schools. In the performance assessment of high-quality development of provincial universities, it has ranked first among similar universities for three consecutive years. In the 2023 and 2024 Shanghai Ranking of Chinese Universities, it ranked first in the main list of private universities in the country for two consecutive years. The school is located in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province. It has 10 teaching colleges (departments) and 43 general undergraduate majors, forming a discipline and professional construction pattern with medicine as its feature and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as medicine, engineering, literature, management, education, art, and economics. It has been approved for 49 collaborative education projects of the Ministry of Education and 70 provincial education reform projects; it has won 5 national second prizes for teaching achievements, 3 provincial special prizes for teaching achievements, 6 first prizes, 9 second prizes, and 7 third prizes. The school has a provincial teaching team, a provincial "Huang Danian-style" teacher team, a provincial college "Youth Entrepreneurship Science and Technology Support Plan" team, a Shandong Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Talent Team, and a provincial exemplary grassroots teaching organization.
