Shenzhen MSU-BIT University is a Sino-foreign cooperative university with independent legal personality established by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, Beijing Institute of Technology and Lomonosov Moscow State University (hereinafter referred to as "Moscow University"), with the important consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The school aims to build a world-class international comprehensive research university with unique characteristics, and is committed to carrying out elite education and high-level scientific research and innovation activities. In October 2016, the school was officially established with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2017, the school enrolled the first batch of undergraduates and postgraduates, in 2018 enrolled the first batch of doctoral students, in 2020 was approved as a postdoctoral innovation practice base, and in 2021 was selected as a high-level university in Guangdong Province Key Discipline Construction University. The school is located at No. 1, International University Park Road, Longgang District, Shenzhen, covering an area of 333,700 square meters. It was built with an investment of 2.043 billion yuan by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government. The campus is close to Shenxianling and Longkou Reservoir, surrounded by mountains and water, and has a beautiful environment. There are 21 single buildings, including the main building, two experimental buildings, three teaching buildings, as well as libraries, gymnasiums, student activity centers, student dormitories, and teacher apartments. The main building standing in the central square is very similar to the main building of Moscow University and is a landmark building on the campus. The main building is 156 meters high, and the five-pointed star on the top is known as the "Shenbei Mo Star". 1. School positioning: Build a unique, world-class comprehensive research university, create a highland and important platform for Sino-Russian cultural exchanges and cooperation, and contribute to deepening Sino-Russian educational cooperation and enhancing the friendship between the two peoples. Cultivate high-quality innovative talents who respect morality and reason, study hard, love literature and love friendship, innovate and collaborate, take on missions, are familiar with Chinese and Russian culture, master Chinese, Russian and English, and are proficient in their professions. Carry out undergraduate, master and doctoral multi-level academic education and non-academic education. Adhere to the talent training concept of "morality as the foundation, culture as the soul, academic as the basis, and practice as the source", establish a three-in-one high-level talent training system of "cultural nourishment, scientific education, and innovative practice", build a Sino-Russian collaborative education community, and strengthen the quality assurance of the whole process. School characteristics The development of the school is closely integrated with the national strategy and the comprehensive strategic cooperation between China and Russia, introduce and absorb the advanced educational concepts, teaching content, teaching methods and disciplinary advantages of the two schools, and integrate them to form the basic characteristics of high starting point, internationalization, comprehensiveness and characteristics. Introduce Chinese and Russian culture into the whole process of education, teaching and scientific research, and form a unique university culture with organic integration of science and culture, and interaction between practice and innovation. Adhering to the education concept of education-oriented, the curriculum system is set up around the value shaping, knowledge cultivation and ability training of students. Give full play to the advantages of basic disciplines of Moscow University to cultivate students' solid scientific theoretical foundation; give full play to the advantages of engineering and technology disciplines of Beijing Institute of Technology to cultivate students' practical innovation ability. Carry out elite education. Use Chinese, Russian and English to teach, with Russian as the main language. The Russian language course adopts an immersive teaching method to enable students to quickly and deeply master Russian language knowledge and ability. Build a "big ideological and political" education pattern, develop quality education, focus on scientific foundation and strengthen innovative practice. Use small class teaching methods to carry out research-based, seminar-based, heuristic, case-based and practical classroom teaching. Fourth, talent training The school takes high-end and sophisticated as the direction of education development, and carries out academic education and non-academic education at the undergraduate, master and doctoral levels. The school's long-term scale of operation is 5,000 people, and the ratio of undergraduates to postgraduates is 1:1. The school has been recruiting undergraduates and postgraduates since 2017, and doctoral students since 2018. The school uses Chinese, Russian and English as teaching languages. The domestic undergraduate admissions have broken the traditional admissions system of one exam determining one's life, and adopted the "631 comprehensive evaluation" model based on the college entrance examination. The school currently has about 2,656 students. So far, the school has trained three batches of undergraduates, with a graduation destination implementation rate of 95%. 87.97% of graduates have continued their studies, including 92.71% were admitted to universities ranked in the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings. The remaining employed graduates are mainly employed by enterprises and institutions such as Huawei, State Grid, and primary and secondary schools in Shenzhen. 5. Disciplines and majors The school relies on the advantages of basic disciplines of Moscow State University in Russia and engineering applications of Beijing Institute of Technology in China, combined with the strategic needs of national science and technology development and the characteristics of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Shenzhen's science and technology industry clusters, highlighting the high starting point, internationalization and comprehensive characteristics of running schools, promoting cross-disciplinary integration and reasonable layout, and creating a national talent training base for Sino-Russian cultural, educational, and scientific and technological cooperation and the "Belt and Road" and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area regional economic and social development. The school has opened 11 undergraduate majors, and has jointly carried out master's degree training in 12 directions in 9 disciplines with Moscow State University, and doctoral training in 11 directions in 6 disciplines. Among them, four undergraduate majors, Russian, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Materials Science and Engineering, and International Economics and Trade, have been selected as first-class undergraduate major construction points in Guangdong Province. In 2021, the school was selected as a key discipline construction university in the new round of high-level universities in Guangdong Province, and four disciplines, namely mathematics, materials science and engineering, biology, and applied economics, were selected as key disciplines in Guangdong Province. Undergraduate majors The school currently offers 11 undergraduate majors: mathematics and applied mathematics, materials science and engineering, economics, chemistry, Russian, biological sciences, electronic and computer engineering, international economics and trade, Chinese language, intelligent perception engineering, and financial technology; a number of natural science, engineering, and art majors will be opened soon. Graduate majors The school currently offers 12 master's majors, including applied mathematics and information technology, basic materials science, nanobiotechnology, earth ecological changes and artificial intervention systems, modern basic and advanced biology, international economics and business, Russian language and culture, teaching Russian as a foreign language, urban ecology and regional planning, inorganic chemistry, national auditing, and international economic (business) law; doctoral student training is carried out in 11 directions of 6 disciplines, including mathematics and mechanics, biology, linguistics, materials science (chemistry, physics), and economics, all of which implement the training program of Moscow University. International student training The school attaches great importance to the creation of a diversified international education environment. From the first year of enrollment, international students have enrolled. At present, the proportion of international degree students in school exceeds 10%, and the proportion of Chinese students with overseas study and exchange experience exceeds 60%. The school adopts a management model for international students that is integrated with domestic students. The teaching process, accommodation management, cultural and sports activities, etc. are consistent with those of Chinese students, so that Chinese and foreign students have sufficient contact and communication. 6. Scientific Research Based on the needs of Shenzhen's construction of a pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the development of science and technology industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the school has established the Computational Mathematics and Control Research Center, the Chemistry and Materials Research Center, the Modern Biology Frontier Science Research Center, the Frontier Interdisciplinary Technology Research Institute, the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, the Sino-Russian Comparative Law Research Center, and the SMBU-Sistema Cooperation Basic Laboratory and the SMBU-Roscosmos Cooperation Basic Laboratory in accordance with the basic scientific research of Moscow State University and the engineering research of Beijing Institute of Technology. In 2019, the Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Commission approved the project and invested nearly 20 million yuan to build 8 scientific and technological innovation platforms (Applied Nanophotonics Platform, Distributed Smart Energy Industry Application Laboratory, Aviation Internal Combustion Engine Performance Laboratory, Cluster Intelligence International Innovation Laboratory, Advanced Interconnection and Heterogeneous Integration Laboratory, New Battery Material R&D Laboratory, Intelligent Unmanned System Joint Laboratory, Intelligent Manufacturing Laboratory, etc.). In 2019, the school won the Guangdong Natural Science Foundation Project for the first time, achieving a zero breakthrough in provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. In 2022, it was selected as a supporting unit of the National Natural Science Foundation for the first time and received funding for 8 projects, including 2 foreign scholar research fund projects. According to the Shenzhen regional economic development and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area science and technology industry development plan, the school plans to focus on artificial intelligence and unmanned systems, new energy and smart society, big data and information security, new materials and intelligent manufacturing, earth science and marine engineering, aerospace and aerospace engineering, environment and ecology, health and biomedical engineering, etc., combining the research capabilities of Beijing Institute of Technology and Moscow State University. The school's faculty team is composed of teachers selected by Moscow State University, teachers selected by Beijing Institute of Technology, and outstanding scholars recruited globally. According to the school's charter, Moscow State University selects no less than 50% of the total number of teachers, and the global talent introduction standard is "not lower than the talent standard requirements of Moscow State University and Beijing Institute of Technology". The school currently has 546 full-time faculty and staff, including 266 faculty and staff selected by Moscow State University and 280 selected and recruited globally by Beijing Institute of Technology (including 21 foreigners). There are 410 full-time teaching and research staff, of which 258 are sent by Mozambique, 152 are sent by BIT and recruited worldwide. 90% of the teaching and research staff have doctoral degrees, and 75% have associate senior titles or above.
