Taizhou Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general college run by the government. It is located in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, one of the birthplaces of China's private economy, an important manufacturing base in the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta, and a modern port city on the southeast coast. The school was planned to be built in 1999; in May 2001, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province approved the establishment of Taizhou Vocational and Technical College; in 2003 and 2006, Zhejiang Taizhou Industrial School and Zhejiang Trade and Economics School were successively incorporated into the school. In 2007, the school successfully passed the excellent evaluation of the level of talent training in higher vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education; in 2012, the school became a "Zhejiang Demonstration Higher Vocational College"; in 2019, the school became a pilot unit of the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education; in 2021, the school was included in the construction unit of Zhejiang Province's "Double High Plan". The school covers an area of about 550 acres, with a construction area of about 306,000 square meters, and a total value of fixed assets of 730 million yuan (including a total value of 210 million yuan for teaching and research equipment). It consists of 12 secondary colleges, including the School of Marxism, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Technology Engineering, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Engineering, the School of Management, the School of Economics and Trade, the School of Humanities, the School of Automotive Engineering, the Sino-German College, the Xinrongji College, and the School of Art. There are 673 faculty members, including 214 with senior professional titles and 480 with master's and doctoral degrees. There are 3 provincial teaching teams, 13 provincial professional leaders, 1 person selected for the provincial young scientist training program, 1 person selected for the provincial "hundreds of thousands" high-skilled leading talents, 1 chief technician of Zhejiang Province, and 1 provincial skill master studio. There are 35 majors, including 2 pilot majors for teaching reform of the Ministry of Education, 3 backbone majors of the Ministry of Education, 3 provincial demonstration majors, 5 provincial advantageous majors, 8 provincial characteristic majors, and 2 provincial high-level professional groups. There is 1 national-level boutique course, 11 provincial-level boutique courses, 64 provincial-level teaching and classroom reform projects, 50 national planning and provincial key textbooks, 7 provincial teaching achievement awards, and 1 first prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award. Since its establishment, the school has always adhered to the "three characteristics" of "higher education, vocational education, and locality", with the purpose of serving regional economic development, adhering to the school-running philosophy of serving the private economy, facing the integration of industry and city, and being proficient in Taizhou manufacturing, and deeply promoting the integration of industry and education and school-enterprise cooperation. There are 38 on-campus training bases and 226 training laboratories. It has 1 national training base for the cultivation of scarce talents in numerical control technology, 2 training bases supported by special funds from the central and provincial finances, 2 productive training bases of the Ministry of Education, 1 training base for "double-qualified" teachers of the Ministry of Education, 1 collaborative innovation center of the Ministry of Education, 1 training base for Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges in the field of intelligent manufacturing of the Ministry of Education, and 9 provincial demonstration training bases. The school vigorously promotes education and teaching reforms, insists on "industry-education integration, school-enterprise cooperation, and collaborative education" as the basic model of talent training, and aims at core technical positions such as engineer assistants, section chiefs, core equipment users, and testing and debugging personnel, and strives to cultivate technical and skilled talents who can "retain, use, and develop sustainably". In recent years, students' practical innovation ability has been greatly improved. Students have won 18 national competitions, 50 provincial first prizes, and 98 provincial college student science and technology innovation projects. The school has successively provided nearly 60,000 outstanding higher vocational talents to the society. The initial employment rate of graduates is above 98%, and the employment rate has been ranked among the top universities in the province for many years. The school insists on open education, and has established friendly cooperation and exchange relations with more than 20 foreign universities or educational institutions such as Germany, Spain, the United States, and the United Kingdom, and continuously improves its internationalization strength. Introducing international high-quality educational resources, it has successively cooperated with the University of Malaga in Spain to organize a professional diploma program in electrical automation technology, and cooperated with the Indiana Institute of Technology in the United States to organize a professional diploma program in mechatronics technology, so as to cultivate high-quality international talents for the high-quality development of the regional economy. The system introduces the international general professional qualification certificate system, establishes the first German Federation of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Taizhou Examination Center for higher vocational education in China, and promotes the quality of technical and skilled talent training to be in line with international standards. Cooperating with the German bbw Education Group and German-funded enterprises in China, the school has explored the pilot reform of the "dual system" vocational education and was selected as one of the first pilot institutions of the Sino-German Advanced Vocational Education Cooperation Project (SGAVE Project) of the Ministry of Education. Adhering to the combination of "introduction and cultivation", the school actively carries out overseas talent introduction, improves the international teaching ability of full-time teachers through multiple channels, and forges a multi-faceted mixed bilingual and dual-ability international teaching team. Actively serving the construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative", the school was selected as a project construction unit of the "Laos National Occupational Standard Co-construction Project", and joined hands with well-known local private enterprises such as Weixing Co., Ltd. to "go global", jointly build an overseas "Silk Road College", and cooperate in "Chinese + Vocational Skills" training, cultural exchanges and other projects to provide strong talent support for the cross-border development of private enterprises. The school has successively won many honors such as the Zhejiang Civilized Unit, the National Free Blood Donation Promotion Award Unit Award, the National Model Workers' Home, the Zhejiang Public Security and Safety Demonstration Unit, the Zhejiang Advanced Health Unit, the Zhejiang Advanced Grassroots Party Organization of Colleges and Universities, and the Zhejiang Provincial Key Support Colleges for the Comprehensive Reform of "Three-dimensional Education". The provincial gold medal national vocational skills appraisal institute, the core cooperative institution of the national English translation certificate grade A examination training, the first batch of Taiwan-related education bases in Zhejiang Province, the first batch of international service outsourcing talent training bases in Zhejiang Province, the Zhejiang Province professional and technical personnel continuing education base (molding industry), Zhejiang Province e-commerce talent training base, government service standardization training practice base, and the national rural revitalization e-commerce talent training base have successively settled in our school.
