Tibet University of Tibetan Medicine is located in Lhasa, the snow-covered plateau, the roof of the world, and the sunny city of Lhasa. It is a traditional medicine college integrating medical education and research. It is the only Tibetan medicine college approved by the Ministry of Education. It is a university jointly built by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region. It is a pilot unit for the reform of the Tibetan medicine talent training model in the national education system reform. The Ministry of Education has built a modern higher education system and talent training model for Tibetan medicine that combines tradition and modernity. It is a key discipline unit of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a continuing education base for Tibetan medicine advantage disciplines. It is a "Collaborative Innovation Center for Tibetan Medicine Research" jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of the Autonomous Region. In 2022, it will become the first batch of provincial training bases for school emergency education of the Ministry of Education. The current party secretary of the school is Ju Mingbing, and the president is Mi Ma. Tibet University of Tibetan Medicine was founded in September 1989 and was formerly the Tibet Tibetan Medical College. It was renamed Tibet University of Tibetan Medicine in 2018. The university is a first-class Tibetan Medicine University construction unit in the development of Tibetan medicine in the Tibet Autonomous Region. In 2019, the new campus with an investment of 1 billion yuan as a prime minister's project was put into use. The new campus covers an area of 500 acres. Tibet University of Tibetan Medicine fully implements the Party's education policy, adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, inherits the essence, adheres to the truth and innovates, and strives to develop higher education in Tibetan medicine. It has taken the lead in opening the precedent of modern higher education in Tibetan medicine in China, and has built two characteristic disciplines of Tibetan medicine and Tibetan pharmacy, and a multi-level education system with undergraduate education as the main body, graduate education and continuing education coordinated development. It has compiled the first set of undergraduate textbooks on Tibetan medicine and Tibetan pharmacy in the country, and the "Undergraduate Teaching Outline of Tibetan Medicine Major", and built 6 provincial and ministerial-level and above base platforms, and trained the first batch of undergraduate, master and doctoral students in Tibetan medicine in China. In the 34 years since its establishment, the university has trained more than 7,600 Tibetan medicine professionals with qualified politics, superb business, diligence in innovation and courage to contribute for the country, and has inherited the heroic spirit of sages, achieved the charm of Tibetan medicine, and formed the humanistic quality of "virtue, diligence, practice and benefiting the people". The school currently has more than 2,300 students, including more than 400 graduate students. There are 276 faculty members on the payroll, including 153 full-time teachers and technical personnel of various types, and 58% of the teachers have master's and doctoral degrees. The school currently has five counterpart aid universities, including Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, China Pharmaceutical University, Harbin Medical University, Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine, and Jilin University. The school fully supports the construction of a first-class Tibetan medicine university with assistance in discipline construction, talent training, faculty team construction, scientific research and industrial development, laboratory and information construction, etc. The school has 34 years of experience in cultivating undergraduates in Tibetan medicine and more than 20 years of experience in independently cultivating Tibetan medicine master's students. The school has 1 first-level discipline doctoral program (Traditional Chinese Medicine-Tibetan Medicine), 2 academic master's degree programs (Traditional Chinese Medicine-Tibetan Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine-Tibetan Medicine), 1 professional master's degree program (Traditional Chinese Medicine-Tibetan Medicine), and 1 Tibetan medicine postdoctoral research mobile station. There are 6 undergraduate majors including Tibetan medicine, Tibetan pharmacy, nursing, marketing, integration of Chinese (Tibetan) and Western medicine, and Chinese (Tibetan) medicine manufacturing, 1 higher vocational college major in traditional Chinese medicine, and various correspondence education at all levels. The school has successively built six provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, including the Collaborative Innovation Center for Tibetan Medicine Co-built by the Province and the Ministry, the Key Laboratory of Basic Tibetan Medicine of the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of Tibetan Medicine and Plateau Biotechnology of the Ministry, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Laboratory for Traditional Tibetan Medicine Processing and Quality Control, the Autonomous Region Tibetan Medicine Processing Laboratory, and the Autonomous Region Tibetan Medicine Clinical Key Laboratory. It has formed nine major research fields in Tibetan medicine, and has initially built two disciplines supported by national special funds, two national characteristic professional construction sites, eight key disciplines of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, two key disciplines of the autonomous region, two national first-class discipline construction and cultivation disciplines, and two national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites. It has gradually achieved relevant results in the field of medical education and research. The school has cultivated and built eight high-quality courses in the autonomous region and 10 high-quality courses at the school level. Edited and participated in 26 21st Century Tibetan Medicine Undergraduate Education Planning Textbooks, and won the first prize of the autonomous region's teaching achievements; edited 10 "21st Century Tibetan Medicine Undergraduate Education Planning Textbooks", and won the second prize of the national teaching achievements; edited 2 national Tibetan medicine undergraduate teaching syllabuses, and won the second prize of the national teaching achievements; edited 1 21st Century Tibetan Medicine Undergraduate Education Planning Textbook Course Syllabus, and won 1 second prize of the autonomous region's higher education teaching achievements. In 2022, the "Tibetan Medicine Core Course Virtual Teaching and Research Office" became the second batch of virtual teaching and research office construction pilot units of the Ministry of Education. In the past two years, it has won 2 national bronze awards for Internet + college students' employment and entrepreneurship, 2 gold awards in the Tibet competition area, 1 silver award, and 3 bronze awards. The school has successively undertaken various scientific research projects at all levels, such as the "863 Program", the "973 Program", the National Science and Technology Support Program Project, the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Social Science Foundation, and the Tibet Autonomous Region Science and Technology Project. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the school organized the application of 367 projects of various levels and types, including the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Social Science Foundation, and the Tibet Autonomous Region Science and Technology Project, with a total approved funding of 88.8798 million yuan. Since 2018, it has won 19 national and provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, including 1 first prize for Tibetan research works of the China Tibetology Research Everest Award, 3 provincial and ministerial excellence awards, 6 first prizes, 5 second prizes, 2 third prizes, 1 Outstanding Science and Technology Worker Award, and 1 Most Beautiful Science and Technology Worker Award. In terms of patents, since 2018, the school's scientific researchers have applied for 43 patents and authorized 18 patents, 10 of which are invention patents. The school currently has 1 directly affiliated hospital, 4 non-directly affiliated hospitals, 5 teaching hospitals, 12 internship hospitals, 2 teaching pharmaceutical factories, and 1 internship pharmaceutical factory. In 2022, Shannan Tibetan Hospital, an affiliated teaching hospital of our school, will become a national demonstration and training center for clinical teaching of traditional Chinese medicine. There are 59 professional and technical personnel in the affiliated hospitals, including 13 senior titles, 23 intermediate titles, and 17 master's and doctoral degrees. There are 36 Tibetan medicine majors, and 16 modern Chinese medicine, Western medicine clinical and nursing staff. The school actively carries out foreign cooperation and exchanges, and has sent experts to visit and lecture in 30 countries including the United States, Britain, South Africa, Brazil, and Japan. It has taught Tibetan medicine to scholars from more than 30 countries and regions, showing the world the profound Tibetan medicine and promoting the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation. The school adheres to the people-oriented education concept, vigorously promotes the construction of teaching quality and teaching reform projects, and always insists on taking the Tibetan medicine major and discipline construction as the breakthrough and focus of promoting the development of the school, and constantly improves the talent training model of "thick foundation, broad caliber, emphasis on practice, and high quality". By reforming teaching methods and means, integrating knowledge imparting, ability training and quality education, we strive to improve teaching quality, promote innovative education, take the leapfrog development path of connotation development and characteristic strong school, practice the development concept of "quality-based school", and strive to improve students' inheritance ability, thinking ability, practical ability and innovation ability. Now the vast majority of graduates have become the backbone of promoting the development of Tibetan medicine in the country.
