Tibet Vocational and Technical College is the only comprehensive higher vocational college in Tibet, which was established in July 2005 with the approval of the People's Government of the Autonomous Region. It was established on the basis of the former Tibet Agricultural and Animal Husbandry School and the Comprehensive Technical Secondary School of the Tibet Autonomous Region. It has a history of nearly 50 years of vocational education. The college currently has 3 campuses (West Campus, North Campus and Economic Development Zone Campus), with a total area of more than 490 acres, a school building area of more than 170,000 square meters, teaching equipment with a total value of more than 100 million yuan, more than 650,000 books (including electronic books), 88 on-campus experimental training rooms (bases), 62 off-campus internship (training) bases established with state-owned enterprises and enterprises above designated size, and more than 200 school-enterprise cooperation units. The college currently has 43 party organizations, 9 members of the party committee (including 2 cadres from the tenth batch of aid to Tibet from the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee), and the party committee of the college has 9 general party branches and 33 party branches (26 teaching and staff party branches and 7 student party branches). There are 357 party members among the faculty and staff, accounting for 72.35% of the faculty and staff; the proportion of students who have submitted applications for joining the party exceeds 80%; in the past three years, 942 teachers and students have been developed as party members, including 855 student party members. At present, student party members account for 6% of the total number of students. The college has 7 secondary colleges and 10 teaching units including the Department of Basic Education, the Department of Continuing Education, and the School of Marxism. It has 32 specialized majors, covering agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, resources, environment and safety, energy, power and materials, civil engineering, transportation, electronics and information, finance and trade, tourism, culture and art and other professional categories, including 4 national demonstration key construction majors, 2 majors supported by the central government to enhance the professional service industry development capabilities of higher vocational schools, 2 pilot majors for the reform of the talent training model of the autonomous region, 5 autonomous region-level key construction majors, 3 autonomous region double-high professional groups, 3 autonomous region breakthrough construction specialty majors, 5 autonomous region first-class professional cultivation points, and 1 autonomous region key experimental training base (logistics management practice teaching center). The school and the enterprise have jointly built 8 productive training bases, 3 industrial (enterprise) colleges, 3 Chinese-style apprenticeship training classes, 11 order training classes, and 3 "1+1+1" joint training classes. The college currently has 6,045 full-time students, more than 500 higher education continuing education students, and an annual training scale of more than 10,000 people. It has trained and sent more than 45,000 technical and skilled talents, and has provided training for more than 150,000 people in all walks of life in the region. The acquisition rate of various technical skill level certificates and professional qualification certificates for graduates has reached more than 85%. The college currently has 479 faculty and staff (including 3 aid-Tibet cadres and 58 non-staff teaching assistants), including 365 full-time teachers. There are 17 senior teachers, 73 deputy senior teachers, and the proportion of senior professional title teachers has reached 24.65%. There are 8 doctors and 111 masters, and the proportion of teachers with graduate degrees reaches 32.60%.
