Wuhan Maritime Vocational College was founded in 1984. With the approval of the Hubei Provincial Government, it was upgraded from the original Wuhan Maritime Secondary Vocational and Technical School to Wuhan Maritime Vocational College. It is an independent public higher vocational college affiliated to the Yangtze River Communications Administration and the Hubei Provincial Department of Education.
