Wuxi University is a public undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education, managed by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, organized by the Wuxi Municipal People's Government, and supported by Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. Its predecessor was Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology Binjiang College, which was founded in May 2002. The school adheres to the socialist direction of running schools, adhering to the school-running positioning of "based in Wuxi, integrated into the industry, facing the region, and serving development", and has built a "three-in-one" school-running system of Wuxi College, postgraduate joint training base, and National University Science and Technology Park. The school is located at No. 333, Xishan Avenue, Wuxi City, adjacent to the core area of Xidong New City, Wuxi High-speed Railway East Station, and Sunan Shuofang International Airport. It has a superior geographical location and beautiful scenery. The campus covers an area of more than 1,100 acres and a total construction area of 384,000 square meters. It is a modern smart campus, ecological campus, humanistic campus and low-carbon campus. It has won the honorary titles of Jiangsu Green School and Jiangsu Smart Campus. The school is a project construction unit for the awarding of master's degrees in Jiangsu Province. It currently has more than 12,000 undergraduate students, nearly 300 international students, and more than 800 postgraduates jointly trained with Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. In line with the needs of local economic and social development, the school has 17 teaching units including the School of Internet of Things Engineering, School of Cybersecurity and Informatization, School of Electronic Information Engineering, School of Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering, School of Automation, School of Rail Transportation, School of Environmental Engineering, School of Atmosphere and Remote Sensing, School of Science, School of Digital Economy and Management, School of Emergency Management, School of Humanities, Law and Politics, School of Media and Arts, School of Applied Technology, School of Marxism, School of International Education, and Department of Physical Education, 6 master's degree programs (jointly trained with Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology), 46 undergraduate majors, covering seven major disciplines including science, engineering, literature, management, economics, law, and art. 18 majors including Internet of Things Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Automation, and Financial Engineering were selected as national and provincial first-class undergraduate majors and provincial industry-education integration brand majors; 4 disciplines including electronic science and technology, control science and engineering, cyberspace security, and management science and engineering were selected as key disciplines in Jiangsu Province's "14th Five-Year Plan". The school attaches great importance to the construction of the teaching staff. There are nearly 700 full-time teachers, 45% of whom are middle- and senior-level teachers, and the doctoral rate is 75%. Among the full-time teachers, there are 4 national specially-appointed experts, provincial specially-appointed professors, provincial "333" high-level talents, provincial "Qinglan Project" young and middle-aged academic leaders, provincial double-innovation doctors and other high-level talents of more than 90 times. The school insists on talent training as the center and continuously deepens the reform of education and teaching. It has won 2 second prizes of national teaching achievement awards, 3 special prizes and second prizes of provincial teaching achievement awards; 27 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, provincial ideological and political demonstration courses, and 14 provincial key textbooks have been approved. In the past three years, students have won more than 1,000 awards in national and provincial innovation, entrepreneurship and subject competitions such as Challenge Cup and "Internet +". The school student union is a member unit of the 27th presidium of the All-China Students Federation (one of the two universities in Jiangsu). The high-quality employment rate of undergraduates remains above 95%, and the rate of postgraduate entrance examinations ranks among the top in similar institutions. Many outstanding students have been admitted to "double first-class" universities such as Peking University and Nanjing University, and famous foreign universities such as the University of California and King's College London. Among them, the Internet of Vehicles Industry College was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a "specialized, refined and new industry college", a provincial key industry college and a provincial key base for the integration of industry and education. The Jinkui Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Education Center is a provincial college for the construction of innovation and entrepreneurship practice education centers for college students; the Jiangsu Provincial Cyberspace Security Training Base was selected as a national and provincial "National Digital Literacy and Skills Training Base", which is the first comprehensive, demonstrative and applied cyberspace security training base in Jiangsu Province and the first prefecture-level city in China that integrates teaching training, emergency drills and popular science publicity. The school focuses on scientific research. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 600 scientific research projects such as national, provincial and ministerial and horizontal projects; published more than 1,000 high-quality scientific research papers; won more than 10 scientific research awards at the provincial and ministerial levels; and has 6 national and provincial scientific research innovation platforms, including the National University Science and Technology Park for Sensor Networks, the Provincial Internet of Things Equipment Hyper-convergence Application and Security Engineering Research Center, the Provincial Integrated Circuit Reliability Technology and Detection System Engineering Research Center, and the China Meteorological Administration Ecosystem Carbon Source Sink Key Open Laboratory.
