The origin of Xingyi Nationalities Normal College can be traced back to the Bishan Academy rebuilt in the 18th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1813). After the establishment of Guizhou Xingyi Normal School in February 1952, the history of modern normal education in Qianxinan was opened. In 1975, it was named Xingyi "May 7" Normal University, in 1978 it was renamed Xingyi Normal College, in 1982 it was renamed Qianxinan Nationalities Normal College, and in 1993 it was renamed Qianxinan Nationalities Normal College. In 2001, it began to jointly run schools with Guizhou Normal University to train undergraduate students. In 2005, Xingyi Normal School and Anlong Nationalities Normal School were merged into Qianxinan Nationalities Normal College, expanding the scale of school operation. In March 2009, the school was officially upgraded to Xingyi Nationalities Normal College with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is a local full-time undergraduate college "co-built by the province and the state, with the state as the main body". In December 2016, the school passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of ordinary colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education, and was approved by the Guizhou Provincial Degree Committee to be newly added as a "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" master's degree project construction unit. In 2017, it was listed as the second batch of application-oriented development transformation pilot universities in Guizhou Province. In 2019, it jointly trained graduate students with Guizhou Normal University and enrolled students. Geographical location Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is located at the junction of the three provinces (regions) of Guizhou, Yunnan and Guangxi, bordering Guangxi to the south and Yunnan to the west. It is located in the upper reaches of the Pearl River and the middle section of the Nanning-Kunming Railway. It belongs to the "Left and Right Jiang Revolutionary Old Area". The school is located in Xingyi City, the capital of Qianxinan Prefecture. The school covers an area of 1,118 acres, with a total building area of 304,000 square meters in use and a total construction area of 375,000 square meters, including 141,200 square meters of teaching, scientific research and auxiliary rooms, 20,300 square meters of teaching and administrative rooms, and 97,300 square meters of student dormitories; the library is 27,200 square meters, with a collection of 860,800 paper books, 1,001,800 electronic books, and 12 digital resources; the total value of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment is 81.6805 million yuan. The school currently has 12 secondary teaching colleges and 43 undergraduate majors; covering ten major disciplines of literature, science, engineering, agriculture, law, education, history, economics, management, and art. The school has been approved as a master's degree project construction unit; there are 5 provincial key support disciplines and 5 provincial comprehensive reform pilot majors; 30 provincial first-class courses, 9 provincial first-class majors, and 1 provincial first-class teaching team; there are 10 on-campus scientific research institutions (centers) such as the China National Teacher Education Research Center, the International Mountain Tourism Development Research Institute, and the Southwest National Minority Area Teacher Education Research Center. Cooperation and Exchange The school adheres to open education, and has signed cooperation agreements with Ningbo University, Yunnan University, Huaqiao University, Guizhou University, Guizhou University of Finance and Economics and other universities, as well as more than 40 universities and institutions in the United States, Britain, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries and Macau and Taiwan, and has carried out cooperation and exchanges in talent training, teacher-student exchanges, scientific research cooperation, resource sharing and campus culture. Using platforms such as Guizhou Province's "Thousands of Overseas Students Program", more than 500 students were selected to study and exchange at high-level universities abroad.
