City University of Hong Kong (abbreviated as CityU or CityU) is a public research-based comprehensive university located in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China. It was founded in 1984 and was originally named City Polytechnic of Hong Kong. It was granted university status and renamed to its current name in 1994. For local students, tuition fees are relatively low; and for non-local students, tuition fees are higher, ranging from about HK$140,000 to HK$150,000 per year (data may be adjusted from year to year). Accommodation fees and other living expenses also need to be considered separately.
