William Carey University is a unique institution with a primary focus on higher education where the college will engage with socio-economic and environmental realities to achieve a radical transformation of people and their environment. The university will bring together social, economic, environmental, cultural and academic activities to promote the holistic development of the community and become a strategic institution.

A range of innovative learning courses and research will be conducted in the unique context of the mountainous region of Northeast India where indigenous culture and natural environment will be sustained along with socio-economic development. Food, water and energy will be a focus and partners from all over the world will be involved with WCU.

Our Mission

To achieve this vision, WCU will offer academic courses and programs that will allow students to participate in business and service-oriented opportunities that will bring about change for the people of the region and Northeast India. Therefore, whether it is teaching environmental or management, education or IT courses, students will be trained and learn in an appropriate environment to prepare for their professional activities. Knowledge, skills and inclination to serve the community will be developed. WCU courses will be both formal and informal as the university is for the people rather than bringing people into an academic sanctuary.

William Carey University will foster national and international strategic alliances for the economic benefit of the people of Northeast India. WCU will promote appropriate research leading to industrial and commercial collaborations and job creation at all levels. Profitability is high due to the abundance of human and natural resources. Capital and other investments will be encouraged. Commercial operations will be encouraged while developing a commitment to the community.
