Introduction

The University of Milano-Bicocca is a public comprehensive university located in Milan, Italy. The university was officially established in June 1998. In the mid-1980s, due to the excessive expansion of the number of students at the University of Milan, management problems arose, and teaching resources were inconvenient, so people began to consider splitting the university. In September 1993, the Milan City Council passed a resolution to establish a new campus in the Bicocca district. Initially, the Economics Department of the University of Milan was assigned to the Bicocca new campus. In June 1998, the "Second University of Milan" was officially established, and in December 1999, it was renamed the University of Milan-Bicocca.
