In 1982, it was established in accordance with Law No. 590, the plan for the development and establishment of new universities in Italy. In 1993, new institutions including the Faculty of Natural Sciences were opened in Isernia, and then the Colozza Center in Campobasso was established, which improved the quality of courses and organizational management. It has now become a master's degree school for secondary education.
Since 2000, the school has continuously increased the number of students and the variety of courses, and in 2006 The School of Medicine was established in 1982, which is also the youngest school in the university.
