The history of the school can be traced back to the Agricultural Department of Riga Industrial Institute established in 1863, which became the Agricultural Department of the University of Latvia in 1919, and was established as an independent Agricultural College in Jelgava Palace in 1939. It was renamed Latvian Agricultural University in 1990 and finally renamed Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technology on March 6, 2018.
