The University of Madeira is a public university in Portugal, located in Funchal, Madeira Islands, Portugal. It is famous for providing high-quality higher education and diversified academic research.

The school has about 5,000 students and 1,000 teachers, with spring and autumn admissions, and offers nearly 1,000 professional courses covering many fields such as biology, economics, and education.
History and establishment time
Founded in 1988, its campus can be traced back to the Jesuit College in the 16th century. In 1978, the University of Lisbon established a branch in Madeira. From 1983 to 1986, the current campus began to take shape. In 1985 and 1989, the Polytechnic School of Nursing and the Polytechnic School of Education of Madeira were integrated successively. In 1996, the Polytechnic School of Nursing and the Polytechnic School of Education of Madeira were integrated. It officially became an independent institution in 2000.
