On July 27, 1930, the Soviet Council of People's Commissars decided to establish the Blagoveshchensk Agricultural Education College, which was transformed into the Blagoveshchensk State Education College in 1932. In 1933, it merged with the Far Eastern Industrial Teachers College to form the Far Eastern Teachers College. It was awarded university status in 1995 and renamed Blagoveshchensk State Pedagogical University on December 23, 1996.
