In 1935, it was renamed the Buryat-Mongolian State Veterinary Institute. It was closed from 1941 to 1944 due to World War II. In 1961, it was changed to the Buryat Agricultural Institute. In 1995, it was renamed the Buryat State Academy of Agriculture and named after Vasily Rodionovich Filippov in 1998.
