History
The history of the school can be traced back to the Warsaw Institute of Technology of Tsar Nicholas II, which was established in 1898. Due to the First World War, the institute moved to Nizhny Novgorod in 1915 and was renamed Nizhny Novgorod Polytechnic University. In 1918, it was merged into Nizhny Novgorod State University. In 1930, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Chemical Technology were separated from Nizhny Novgorod State University, and new faculties were created. In 1992, the school was renamed Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University in memory of the famous alumnus engineer Rostislav Alexeev.
