The history of the school can be traced back to the Orenburg Teachers College established in 1915. On this basis, the Orenburg Public Education College was established in 1919. In 1930, it was renamed Orenburg State Teachers College. From 1938 to 1957, it was renamed accordingly due to the name change of the city. In 1996, it was finally named Orenburg State Teachers University.
