History and establishment time
The university was founded in 1955 as a branch of the Kuibyshev Polytechnic Institute, reorganized into the Orenburg Polytechnic Institute in 1971, reorganized into the Orenburg State University of Technology in 1994, and finally reorganized into the Orenburg State University in 1996. In 2000, Orenburg State Academy of Management merged with Orenburg State University.
