It is affiliated with the North Carolina Community College System and offers two-year associate degree programs as well as various certificate programs. History: The school was originally established in 1964 as Caldwell Technical College, with Dr. H. Edwin Beam as the first president. Health occupations courses were offered in 1965, and the first campus facilities were opened in 1967. In 1970, with the implementation of the university transfer program, the school was renamed Caldwell Community College and Technical College. In 1984, Dr. Eric B. McKeithan was appointed as the second president. In 1995, Dr. Kenneth A. Boham took over as president and retired in 2016. In the same year, Dr. Mark Poarch, a native of Caldwell County, was appointed as the fourth president.
