Basic Information:

Founded in 1898 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, it is the oldest institution of higher education in the Texas Panhandle.

School Type: Public community college.

Location: Located on a beautiful 107-acre campus on the western edge of Clarendon, Texas, its service area covers eight counties.

History:

Successfully managed by the church for the first 25 years of the 20th century, the original college later moved to Abilene and became McMurray University.

In 1927, the Clarendon Independent School Board purchased the college property and reestablished it as a non-sectarian junior college, which was accredited by the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Association of Colleges and Universities.

In 1968, the college separated from the school district and moved to its current location.

Educational philosophy and goals:

The college's teachers, board of directors and administrators are committed to making the college a gateway to learning, providing educational opportunities to all students of different ages who can benefit from education, and strive to ensure equal educational opportunities, regardless of age, gender, color, nationality, race, religion, belief and disability.

Provide corresponding courses for students preparing to enter college, students seeking various career opportunities, and community members seeking cultural literacy improvement, short-term skills training or personal development opportunities.

Educational Programs:

Degree Programs: Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission, can award associate degrees, provide academic transfer programs, vocational/technical education, etc.

Course Types: Including freshman and sophomore courses in liberal arts and sciences, as well as adult continuing education courses for career or cultural improvement; there are also compensatory education courses, counseling and guidance programs, workforce development programs, adult literacy and other basic skills courses, etc.

Student Services: Provides a variety of services and resources including mental health services, Bulldog Alert System, Student Handbook, live sports events, 2024-2025 course catalog, academic calendar, sports website, student refund process, Office 365 office software use, transcript application, registration, financial aid, tuition and fee consultation, academic guidance and counseling, course scheduling, library, etc.

Campus Activities: The college has events worth celebrating, such as the meat team winning the national championship, and employees being recognized for their outstanding contributions, which reflects the rich competition and recognition activities on campus.
