Introduction and Overview: Craven Community College provides a full range of credit and non-credit learning opportunities for the 104,000 residents of Craven County, North Carolina, and local military personnel. History and Establishment: The college originated as an extension of the Lenore Industrial Education Center. In 1965, the state legislature officially established it as a formal extension of Lenore's industrial education unit, and the school was originally located in the Harvey Building in New Bern. In 1967, county voters approved a bond issue to fund the construction of a new technical school. By the early 1970s, the college's permanent campus in New Bern was completed.
