Introduction and Overview: The school is a public, state-supported, two-year comprehensive community college located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and is a member of the North Carolina Community College System. It serves nearly 30,000 students each year and offers more than 300 academic awards, including associate degrees, diplomas and certificates, as well as economic and workforce development courses.
History and Founding: In 1961, under the leadership of John Standridge, the Fayetteville Area Industrial Education Center was established. In 1963, it was renamed Fayetteville Technical College. In 1967, it was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. In January 1988, it was officially renamed Fayetteville Technical Community College.
School Strength: It is the third largest community college in North Carolina, with 328 full-time and 439 part-time academic staff (Spring 2022), and a student-faculty ratio of 14:1. It offers more than 190 vocational, technical, general education, university transfer and continuing education courses, and has one of the largest continuing education departments in the state.

In terms of disciplines, it offers courses in nine broad subject areas, including business, computer information technology, engineering, health care, human service technology, media and fine arts, public safety, technical industries and university transfer.

Ranking: Ranked 93rd among colleges in North Carolina and 2464th overall.

Campus environment: It has a 150-acre Fayetteville main campus, a 10-acre Spring Lake campus, a Liberty Training and Education Center campus in Fort Liberty, and various peripheral education centers. The main campus has 17 buildings, including a student center, bookstore, advanced technology building, library, business and industrial center, gymnasium, health technology center, etc.
