J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is a public community college located in Virginia. Here is a detailed introduction about it:

Historical background:

Founded in 1972, it is a relatively young community college in Virginia. It is named after J. Sargeant Reynolds, the 30th Lieutenant Governor of Virginia.

After years of development, it has become one of the most influential institutions in the Virginia Community College system.

Campus distribution:

Parham Road Campus: Located in Henrico County, it opened in 1974. The campus building is modern and has good teaching facilities. The campus is large and provides students with a wide range of learning and activity space.

Downtown Campus: Located in Richmond, it moved from a leased facility on East Grace Street to its current location in 1981. The building where the campus is located is a modern high-rise building. It was expanded in 1995, adding approximately 7,800 square meters of usable area. The campus is conveniently located and there are many city bus routes nearby.

Goochland Campus: Located in Goochland Court, the teaching facilities were built in 1981 and expanded in 2001 to become the college's third comprehensive campus, offering professional courses such as horticulture and automobiles.

The Kitchens at Reynolds: Also located in Richmond, it provides students with professional teaching and practice places related to catering.

Academic Programs:

Rich Professional Courses: The college offers a variety of course programs, including 25 vocational/technical associate degree programs, 9 vocational/technical certificate programs, 5 transfer programs, and 41 vocational learning certificate programs (learning time is less than one year). Professional fields cover social sciences, business management, biological and physical sciences, engineering technology, health care, art, etc.

Transfer credit advantages: We have established good cooperative relations with many four-year universities in Virginia and other regions. After completing the two-year associate degree program, students have the opportunity to transfer to these universities to continue their studies, providing students with a convenient channel for further study.

Distance Education: 97% of the college's courses offer at least one distance education course, allowing students to study according to their needs and schedule.

Teaching Resources:

Faculty: We have a team of highly qualified teachers with rich teaching experience and professional knowledge, and are able to provide students with high-quality teaching services.

Learning Support Services: We provide students with academic counseling, career planning guidance, employment services and other support to help students succeed in academic and career development.

Library Resources: We have a modern library with a wealth of books, journals, electronic resources, etc. to meet students' learning and research needs.

Student Population:

The total number of students is approximately 7,759 (data may change), including approximately 2,476 full-time students and approximately 5,283 part-time students. The student population is diverse, including students of different races, ages and backgrounds.

The gender ratio of the college is 38% male and 62% female. The age distribution of students is wide, with a large proportion of students aged 18-24, approximately 48%, and students aged 25-64 accounting for 36%.

Cost and Aid:

For in-state students, the tuition for the 2020-2021 school year is $3,998; for out-of-state students, the tuition is $8,800. In addition, students also need to pay for other expenses such as books.

About 48% of undergraduates at the college receive grants or scholarships, with an average scholarship or grant amount of $3,535, which alleviates the financial burden of students to a certain extent.
