Introduction and Overview: Livingston College is a private historically black Christian college in Salisbury, North Carolina, affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. The college offers a variety of undergraduate majors in business, liberal arts, STEAM, teacher education and workforce development, with approximately 890 undergraduate students, and a highly diverse student body, 95% of whom are minorities.
History and Founding: The college was founded in 1879 as Zion Wesley Institute in Concord. In 1882, the college moved to Salisbury and was renamed Livingston College in 1887 in honor of African missionary David Livingston. In the same year, the school awarded its first degree.
