New River Community and Technical College is a public community college located in West Virginia, United States. Here are some details about the college:

History:

Founded in 2003, it is a relatively new college in West Virginia. Its historical roots can be traced back more than 130 years, providing educational services to West Virginia through its two parent institutions, Bluefield State College and Glenville State College.

Created by West Virginia's HB 2224 bill and further improved by SB 448, it merged the community and technical college portion of Bluefield State College and the community and technical college campus of Glenville State College in Nicholas County (Summersville).

Campus distribution:

There are currently 4 campuses located in Beaver (main campus, which is also the central administrative location), Princeton, Lewisburg and Summersville.

In addition, the college has an Advanced Technology Center in Ghent, West Virginia, and a single college classroom in Marlington.

Academic Programs:

A variety of degree and certificate programs are offered, including 10 Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) programs, 13 Associate in Science (A.S.) programs, 2 Associate of Fine Arts (A.F.A.), college certificates, and college skills certificates.

Many A.S. degree programs are linked to four-year bachelor's degree programs at Bluefield State College and Granville State College, as well as other state-supported institutions, providing a path for students to continue their studies.

Instructional Methods: All four of the college's campus facilities are equipped with Interactive Video Network (IVN) video conferencing technology, and distance education is provided via online instruction.

Career Development Services:

The college's Workforce and Business Development Center offers a variety of customized training and workforce development programs to meet the training needs of employers in the college's designated service area.

Over the past decade, we have provided programs and training to more than 7,000 employees at more than 60 companies, and we also work with local career centers to support workforce investment in the region.
