School Overview
Long history: The school was founded in 1966 and was originally the Tri-Cities State Regional Vocational and Technical School. In 1970, it became a regional vocational and technical training center. In 1978, it began to award one-year certificates and associate degrees in technical fields and was renamed Tri-Cities State Technical College. In 1983, it was under the jurisdiction of the Tennessee Board of Regents and became part of the Tennessee State University and Community College System. In 1990, it was officially renamed Northeast State Community College.
Large scale: The school enrolls more than 6,000 students and has multiple campuses, including the Blountville main campus, Elizabethton campus, Gray campus, Kingsport campus, etc., serving the citizens of Carter, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington counties in Tennessee.
