School Profile

Founding Background and Development History: Founded in 1946 by Danish evangelist M. C. Ehlert, it was originally a private coeducational institution to provide training for missionaries going to Mexico and Latin America. In January 1947, Ehlert and his wife and others started night school courses so that local Hispanics could attend school while working during the day. In the first few years, courses were taught in English and Spanish. By 1955, the English school was terminated and replaced by a Spanish school for missionaries going to Latin America.

School Size and Campus Environment: It is a smaller private evangelical college with 134 undergraduates and 12 part-time undergraduates. The campus is located in Edinburgh, with a beautiful surrounding environment, providing students with a peaceful learning atmosphere.

School Nature and Accreditation: As a private, non-profit, four-year and above educational institution, the school has been accredited by the Commission of the Association for Biblical Higher Education.

Major Setting

Bible and Theology Related Majors: The school's core majors are concentrated in the fields of Bible and theology, such as Bible Studies, Theology, etc., aiming to cultivate students' in-depth understanding of the Bible and systematic mastery of theological theories, laying a foundation for them to engage in religious-related work or further study.

Spanish Courses: Considering the needs of missionaries to Latin America and other places, the school has set up Spanish courses, including a nine-month Spanish course and Spanish-related Bible courses, etc., to help students master Spanish language skills so as to better carry out missionary work in Spanish-speaking areas.

Teaching Resources and Features

Faculty: In 1990, the school's faculty had grown from 2 in 1946 to 24, including 17 full-time teachers and 7 part-time teachers. Today, the school has 21 teachers with a teacher-student ratio of 6:1. Teachers are able to give students full attention and guidance to promote their learning and growth.

Practical teaching: The school owns and operates the Spanish radio stations KRI O-AM (910) and KOIR-FM (88.5). It also produces Bible training videos and other materials. Students have the opportunity to participate in these practical projects, apply what they have learned to practice, and improve their practical ability.

Teaching mode: In addition to regular daytime courses, the school also opened night school courses in January 1989 for local pastors and others who cannot attend classes during the day, providing a more flexible learning method to meet the needs of different students.

Although the specific types of clubs are not clearly mentioned, students can expand their interpersonal relationships, enrich their extracurricular life, and cultivate teamwork spirit and leadership skills by participating in these organizations and activities.

Campus cultural activities: The school will hold some activities related to religious beliefs and culture, such as regular prayer meetings, Bible study groups, etc., to enhance students' religious experience and faith exchanges. In addition, there may be some cultural exchange activities to promote mutual understanding and integration between students from different backgrounds.

Life service facilities: The school provides some life service facilities for students, such as nursery services, so that students with children can better balance study and family life.
