History of the school: Founded in 1901 by Indiana Fletcher Williams in memory of his daughter Daisy, it officially opened in 1906 and awarded its first Bachelor of Arts degree in 1910.
Location: Located on the foreland of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, about 100 miles from the state capital Richmond, the campus covers an area of 2,840 acres.
