The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) is a public research university located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. It is the first public university in the United States and one of the public Ivy League universities in the United States.
History and Establishment
The school was founded in 1789. On October 12, 1793, the foundation stone was laid on the ruins of the Episcopal Church and the school name was determined. On February 12, 1795, it was officially opened to the public and became the first state university in the United States to enroll students. It was forced to close in 1861 due to war and debt problems and reopened in September 1875.

Academic achievements: The school has achieved fruitful results in academic research. As of December 2015, it has founded more than 150 companies, including 63 technology service companies, and employed more than 8,000 local employees in North Carolina.
Teaching resources: Its library system includes Davis Library, Health Sciences Library, Art (Sloan) Library and other professional libraries. As of August 2023, there are 5,034,459 resources of various types in the school library system.
