History:

The predecessor of the University of Tulsa was the Presbyterian School for Girls, founded in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1882. In 1894, the school was changed to a comprehensive college for both men and women and was renamed Henry Kendall College. In 1908, Henry Kendall College moved to Tulsa. In 1920, it merged with another local church school, McFarlin College, and was renamed the University of Tulsa after the reorganization.

It is the oldest private university in Oklahoma and the only university in the state to be listed in the top 100 in the United States.
