School History
The school was founded in 1890 and was originally named Territorial Normal School. In 1904, it was renamed Central State Normal School. In 1919, it became a four-year degree-granting normal college. In 1954, it began to grant the first master's degree. In 1971, it was upgraded to a university and changed to its current name in 1990.
