Western Carolina University is a coeducational public university located in Cullowhee, North Carolina, United States. It is one of the 17 campuses of the University of North Carolina system, offering more than 115 undergraduate majors and more than 40 graduate programs in engineering, science, healthcare, education, humanities, business and art.

History and Founding Time

The school was founded in August 1889. It was originally a semi-public middle school. In 1891, it was promoted to Cullowhee High School. In 1893, it became the first public normal school in North Carolina.
