Introduction and Overview
Founded in 1908, the school is the easternmost member of the Ohio University System. In the fall of 2022, the undergraduate enrollment was 9,377 and the graduate enrollment was 1,921. The campus area was 160 acres, offering more than 155 undergraduate programs and more than 40 graduate programs.
History
Its origins can be traced back to 1908, when the local YMCA chapter established a law school within the Youngstown Association School. In 1921, it became Youngstown Polytechnic Institute, in 1928 it was renamed Youngstown College, in 1955 it was renamed Youngstown University, and in 1967 it became a public institution and was officially named Youngstown State University.
