In 1971, it was renamed the Tomsk Institute of Automatic Control Systems and Radio Electronics. In 1997, it was renamed the Tomsk Institute of Automatic Control Systems and Radio Electronics. In 2000, it was awarded the status of a university and adopted its current name.
