History
Formally established in 1957 through organic law, the first president was elected in 1959. In 1960, the School of Education, the School of Marine Sciences and a high school were established in Tijuana. In 1961-1962, the School of Economics, Business, and Administration and a high school in Tecate were established. In 1969, the School of Tourism was established, and in 1971-1979, the School of Medicine, the School of Dentistry and the School of Chemical Sciences were established successively. In 1986 and 1989, the School of Humanities and the School of Engineering were established respectively.
