Introduction
Belarusian State University (Белорусский государственный университет), abbreviated as BSU, is located in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. It is a top public research university affiliated to the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus. It is also one of the four famous national universities in the former Soviet Union, one of the top universities in the CIS countries, and a member of the European University Association.
History and establishment time
The history of the school can be traced back to February 25, 1919, when the Central Executive Committee of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic decided to establish the first Belarusian State University. However, due to the occupation of Minsk by the Polish army, the plan was postponed and the university actually opened on October 30, 1921.
During World War II, the school was forced to close and evacuate to Saratov, Russia, and returned to Minsk in 1944 to reopen.
